Privacy and data protection
This Privacy Notice applies to the processing of Personal Information by the Firm. We protect your privacy and follow industry-standard protections and security processes with respect to data privacy, and we monitor changes in privacy laws and employ security updates in response where applicable and reasonably necessary. Although we earnestly seek to protect Personal Information in every step of our work, we cannot guarantee absolute security either in digital formats or in physical documents such as those transmitted by mail or delivery services.
We may collect personally identifiable information (PII) and sensitive personal information (SPI) that support communication with prospective, current and past clients, such as name, contact details, demographic information and other relevant information.
The information may be necessary for us to provide services to you. We will use personal information only for the purposes for which we collect it or as otherwise required by law and only to such extent as required.
With your consent, we may also collect personal information from third parties such as healthcare providers, financial institutions, and employers. In addition, we may share the information with expert witnesses, support staff, and third parties reasonably essential for legal representation.
Further, in some instances we may collect and store personal information about criminal charges and convictions for the purpose of legal representation. You may update personal information and privacy preferences, and you withdraw consent at any time through written notice to the email address below.
How we collect & share PII and SPI
When building a case, PII and SPI data may be collected and shared with your knowledge and consent. Channels for collecting and/or sharing data may include:
- Our website online form. Users share personal information each time they submit the form.
- Our designated case management, client communications and billing portal. Similarly, clients and other users share personal information submitted via such software.
- Over the phone.
- By opt-in text message.
- Through other legal and government channels.
- Secure third-party processing tools.
- Affiliates in support of the case.
- From or to (as legally required) legal authorities.
We will never sell your personal information or sensitive personal information or data. Further, we do not track, collect, or share website or case management system user data for the purpose of targeted or personalized advertising. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, nor do we create user profiles based on browsing behavior. Any “advertising” displayed on our site is contextual, based only on the content of the page you are viewing, and does not utilize personal information. (Here, “advertising” refers to website information intended for public education on non-individualized legal matters)

Users and clients can opt-in for text messaging and supply the designated contact phone number by filling out our website online form (found at https://pbjlaw.org/contact), or by replying “Yes” to the initial opt-in confirmation text message from (303) 532-5557.

- We will not share your phone number with third parties or for other purposes without consent.

Definition of key terms
Individual: An individual is a person who can be identified, directly or indirectly, by specific information about them (such as full name or phone number) – also referred to as a user, client or consumer. An individual’s data is protected under various privacy laws. An individual is generally the person described by the Personal Information or Sensitive Personal Information.
Personal Information: Commonly referred to as Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”) or Personal Information (“PI”) or personal data. Personal Information may be defined under various privacy laws, but, generally, is a fact about an individual which, if combined with one or more other facts about that individual, would identify a specific person.
Sensitive Personal Information: The general definition of Sensitive Personal Information (“SPI”), also known as “special categories of information,” is information that if lost, compromised, or disclosed could result in material embarrassment, inconvenience, harm or unfairness to an individual. As such, SPI is a subset of PI that requires greater security and handling protections. Some privacy laws may define SPI with additional granularity.
Data Processing: This collection, organization, use, dissemination, destruction, restriction, structuring, storage, or retrieval of personal information or sensitive personal information.
The Firm: For the purposes of this Notice, we will refer to PBJ Law Project, LLC and its associated affiliates as “the Firm”, and collectively as “we”, “our” or “us.”
